Can I receive Social Security benefits and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits?
You may be able to receive SSI in addition to monthly Social Security benefits, if you have low income and few resources. Visit our Supplemental Security Income webpage for more information on the eligibility requirements for SSI.
You can apply for Social Security benefits online. However, you cannot apply for SSI online. To do so, schedule an appointment at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday or contact your local Social Security office.
