Readout of call between Secretaries Napolitano and Salazar and Gulf Coast Governors

Secretaries Janet Napolitano and Ken Salazar spoke by conference call today to Governors Haley Barbour (Miss.), Bob Riley (Ala.), Rick Perry (Texas), Charlie Crist (Fla.) and the Deputy Chief of Staff to Gov. Bobby Jindal (La). Governor Jindal was with President Barack Obama.
The secretaries briefed the governors on the ongoing response to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. They spoke specifically about efforts to stop the oil leaks and mitigating the oils impact on the shorelines of their states. Additionally, they spoke about ways to enhance what has been strong cooperation between the federal government and the states.
The secretaries and governors agreed to speak again on Tuesday.
