Are you an exporter? Do you own a warehouse that is not in the same location as your offices? 
Do you designate the address of your headquarters as the address of the U.S. Principal Party in Interest(USPPI) in your Electronic Export Information for shipments that actually begin their journey to the port of export from your warehouse?
If you answered “yes” to all of these questions then I would like to take a few minutes to let you know that the address of your warehouse should be used as the USPPI when you file your export shipment through the Automated Export System (AES). If you answered “yes” to at least one of these questions this article may still apply to you.
To clarify, the address that exporters designate for the USPPI is meant to indicate the location from which the goods begin their journey to the port of export, known more commonly as the “origin of movement.” Say that you want to know where corn is exported from. If exporters of corn did not report the correct USPPI then it may be the case that a state that doesn’t even produce corn could be listed as having done so. Another scenario for reporting might be that a filer owns a mining company with their headquarters several states away from the mine. It’s no mystery here: if this person is filing an export shipment in AES for goods produced from their mine then they should report the address that reflects the location of the mine.

So remember to always report the address where the goods that are ready to be exported actually begin their journey to the port of export.
