About the Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care

 

The Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care oversees the policy and implementation of VA’s programs that provide geriatric and other long-term care programs and services to Veterans.  The Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care staff are administrative and healthcare subject matter experts that are dedicated to overseeing the quality of care for aging and chronically ill Veterans.  We are committed to establishing VA’s role as a leader and a partner in the healthcare community.

 

 

James F. Burris, MD
Chief Consultant, Geriatrics and Extended Care

Dr. James F. Burris is the Chief Consultant for the national
Geriatrics and Extended Care Policy office.   Dr. Burris is
responsible for
developing policy that supports VA’s provision
of integrated care for elderly and chronically ill Veterans

 
Dr_Tom_Edes 

Tom Edes, MD

Director, Geriatrics and Extended Care Operations

Dr. Tom Edes is the Director for the national Geriatrics
and Extended Care Operations office.   Dr. Edes is responsible
for the implementation of Geriatrics and Extended Care
programs and services to the local VA medical centers.
