Swans like these are considered an “invasive” species, even though they were introduced here by man, they are considered pests. The conservation authority oil the eggs of the Swans so the embryos suffocate within to control populations. I can understand this to a degree with over population and so on. However the Swans will often stay on the eggs long after they have died and at times will develop health problems or diseased or rotting limbs. I wonder what these Mute Swans would say about us if they had a voice.
This is horrible! I can’t believe this, I live in Toronto, and I’ve never seen something so disgusting. I can’t believe how badly we treat our lakes. We need to take a stand! This has to be stopped.
