The Fulbright Program offers grants to qualified Portuguese graduate students to study at the graduate level in the United States. Portuguese scholars may apply to conduct post-doctoral research at U.S. institutions and are eligible for Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Grants. Program and scholars are eligible for the Fulbright European Union Scholar-in-Residence Program.

U.S. students and young professionals may apply for a grant to pursue independent research in Portugal, while U.S. scholars may teach and conduct research. In addition, U.S. students are eligible to apply for the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program.
