What is a Yellow Belt

Yellow Belts (YBs) are trained and certified individuals who maintain a general knowledge of LSS and can help identify processes within their organization that need improvement. In addition, they serve as team members on Green Belt and Black Belt projects. Yellow Belts may be ideal candidates to become Green Belts and Black Belts and are a potential source of project ideas.

Steps for Completing the Online Yellow Belt Training

  1. Visit the Army e-Learning website to register for Yellow Belt training.
  2. From this page you can login or, if you are a new user, register for Army e-learning.
    1. If you are a new user, click on Register.
    2. If you have previously used Army e-Learning, enter your Username and Password and click Sign On.

  3. Once you have logged on to Army e-Learning, click on Catalog at the top of the screen.
  4. Then, click on “Army Custom Curricula” to expand its contents.
  5. Scroll down and select the “HRC/G-1 Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt” course to expand its contents.
  6. You will then see five courses. It is recommended that you take them in the order listed below:

    1. History of Organizational Improvement and the Foundations of Six Sigma
    2. Six Sigma Introduction
    3. Six Sigma: Reducing Variation to Improve Quality
    4. Six Sigma: Listening to the Voice of the Customer
    5. Lean Logic

  7. When you have completed all of the courses, forward your certificates to the Army G-1 LSS Team to receive your G-1 Yellow Belt certification (Note: In order to receive G-1 certification, you must work within the DCS G-1 / ASA (M&RA)).
