About the Extramural Research Activity
As part of the Office of Science Quality, the Extramural Research Activity is responsible for increasing the impact of CDC science through the promotion of high quality extramural research that is most likely to result in decreases in public health burden and improvements in population health.
Given the breadth and magnitude of the CDC mission, it is crucial that research activities of the highest impact and quality are selected and supported. OSQ provides a central focus for policy development, guidance, and support and training in recommended practices for peer review and extramural research across CDC.
The Extramural Research Activity supports and administers the following programs:
- CDC Small Business Innovation Research Program
- CDC Seed Award Program in Support of Collaborative Research
