Climate change threatens some of the most treasured natural and historic places in our nation. An example in the Alaska Maritime bioregion that park managers are concerned about is the increase in the number of snow-free and frost-free days and the resulting melting of glaciers. As glaciers melt faster, stream and watershed dynamics will be altered and the land will rise upward. This is an image of Exit glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park; the park must continually increase the length of the trail to the glacier as it recedes.
