Climate change threatens some of the most treasured natural and historic places in our nation. An example in the Atlantic Coast bioregion that park managers are concerned about addresses the iconic ponies of Assateague Island National Seashore. Rising sea level and changing precipitation patterns may result in a lack of fresh water. This "parched ponies" scenario will reduce the available habitat for ponies and affect other wildlife too.
