Photo Theme: It’s Almost Here – America Recycles Day!

November 15 is America Recycles Day! Whether it’s composting, turning a disposable good into something of value again, or good ol’ reduce, reuse and recycling, how will you celebrate?

Our environment is everything around us; it’s the great outdoors, just as much as it’s each of our homes. So take a photo of how you’re cutting down on waste and send it in to State of the Environment! What can you recycle?

In this photo submitted by Aspen Environmental health, City and county employees are conducting a “waste sort” in Aspen Colorado’s landfill. By finding out which items take up the most space, they can develop targeted recycling programs. The landfill is expected to reach capacity in about 20 years, forcing residents to ship their trash someplace further “away.”
