- When sending internationally the maximum weight for Flat Rate envelopes is 4 lbs and for boxes is 20 lbs. Some countries have lower weight restrictions.
- There are restrictions for mailing restricted and hazardous materials.
- Cigarettes and smokeless tobacco shipments cannot be mailed internationally. Cigars can be mailed internationally unless prohibited by the destination country.

- When sealing a Flat Rate Envelope or Flat Rate Box, the container flaps must be able to close within the normal folds.
