Do I qualify for other types of assistance if I receive Supplement Security Income (SSI)?
If you get SSI, you also may be eligible to receive social services from the state in which you live. These services include Medicaid, free meals, housekeeping help, transportation or help with other problems.
Please visit Medicaid Informationto find out whether you may qualify and if you need to file a separate application.
You also may be able to get help through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program(SNAP), formerly known as food stamps. If everyone in your home is applying for or getting SSI, you can apply for SNAP at a local Social Security office. If you do not live in a home where everyone is applying for or getting SSI, visit SNAP to find out how to apply.
You also can get information about services in your area from your state or local social services or welfare office.
