Photo Theme: Your Street

2011 October 21

Sometimes the best photos come from unlikely places. Submit a photo of your nearest street, right when you step outside.

Our environment is everything around us; it’s National Parks, just as it’s each of our backyards. So take a photo of the nearest pavement or dirt road, streets lined with recycling bins or litter, buildings or towering trees and send in your street view to State of the Environment! What you can do locally to help protect the environment.

Back in 1973 David Falconer captured the view from the road and a whole lot more. What stories can your street tell?

One of the main ephemeral stream draining through Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India has been converted into a filth & garbage carrier. As a child, some 50 years ago, I have seen its river bed clean and tidy; never imagined, I would be seeing it changing into a drain. Well
