Innovative Solutions for Solar Financing Webinar - Full Webinar

Financing of solar projects remains a major barrier to the more widespread adoption of solar technologies. This webinar will feature successful solar projects from Sonoma County, California and Joint Venture Silicon Valley. Sonoma County adopted a climate action plan in 2006, which included a Comprehensive Energy Project. Through the Comprehensive Energy Project, the county has installed a 750kW solar array and invested in energy efficiency and conservation measures. Sonoma County also has an active Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program, which has provided over $36 million in financial assistance for over 1,100 completed projects in the residential and commercial sector since March 2009. The Joint Venture Silicon Valley Collaborative Renewable Energy Procurement (SV-REP) Project is the largest multi-agency purchase of renewable energy in the country, including nine cities, towns, counties, and other public agencies in Silicon Valley. The SV-REP was designed to address the high upfront costs of renewable energy technologies, the transaction costs associated with conducting competitive bid processes and developing agreements, and the lack of understanding of financing options and available incentives through a collaborative regional effort using a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) financing model, and a standardized lease agreement and procurement process.
