Mr. Kenchington has served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Research and Development (R&D) in the Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability since February of 2009. He is currently responsible for formulating and directing federal R&D activities to enhance the reliability, security, and efficiency of the nation’s electricity delivery system. Mr. Kenchington also directs the $3.4 billion Smart Grid Investment Grant program funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to upgrade the nation’s power grid with advanced digital technologies for enhanced connectivity and performance.
