2 days ago, 07/03/2013 at 15:09 I spent much of a day earlier this week 800 miles north of the Arctic Circle, high up on the western coast of the massive island of Greenland – indeed, the largest island in the world -- in the north Atlantic. At this time of year, there are still only a few hours of daylight, and the huge glaciers that collide are shimmering sheets of blue ice, like blankets over the snow covered valleys. It is a forbidding and extraordinary place. |
