EPA Web Site Audit Schedule

MEMORANDUM
SUBJECT:EPA Web Site Audit Schedule
FROM:Elaine Stanley, Director
Office of Information Analysis and Access
TO:Agency Office Directors

Over the next several months, the Office of Environmental Information (OEI) will be conducting manual and electronic reviews of EPA's Web pages to ensure they are in compliance with appropriate Agency Web site policies and standards. Once these audits have been completed, we will send you results for the Web area that your office maintains so you may take corrective action as necessary.

A list of upcoming audits and the dates they will be conducted includes:

The Agency Look & Feel Compliance Audit will confirm that all EPA Web pages have migrated to the new design that will be used across the entire Web site, including all office and regional pages. All static HTML and dynamic HTML pages, with the exception of Domino-based applications, should be converted by June 30, 2002. Domino-based applications should be converted by September 30, 2002 and a subsequent audit will follow.

The Privacy Audit will verify that all EPA Web pages provide a link to the Agency's Privacy and Security Notice so we are in compliance with OMB Circular No. A-130. This Notice is available at: http://www.epa.gov/epafiles/usenotice.htm.

The Accounts Audit, which was conducted last year and is repeated annually, will require your review of those staff you have previously designated with direct access to your Web area. This will ensure that only authorized staff have access to make changes and allows for accountability of your publicly accessible information.

Compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires that Federal agencies' electronic and information technology be accessible to people with disabilities. We will be asking you to certify that your Web area is in compliance with Section 508 standards, as found on: http://www.section508.gov/. exit EPA After September 30, 2002, OEI will conduct random checks of Web areas to ensure compliance.

OEI is committed to providing easy access to our Agency's information. Through cooperation and compliance with Web policies, we all can ensure a quality Web site will be delivered to the public. Detailed information on each audit, including instructions and procedures, will be sent out in the near future. My staff will be available to assist you in implementing any of the above changes on Web pages and are available for any further questions you may have. Please contact Jonda Byrd at (513) 569-7183 for assistance.
