Demoliton of the 183K West Sedimentation Basin (May 2010)
Rubble from demolition of the east wall of the 183K West Sedimentation Basin is removed and stockpiled for future use. Demolition of the 183K West Pipe Tunnel begins in the background. About 20,000 cubic yards of concrete debris from the demolished basins will be recycled as fill for CH2M HILL’s U Canyon demolition project. The remaining debris will be disposed of in the Environmental Restoration Disposal Facility, Hanford’s on-site low-level waste landfill.
