Portuguese Judicial Police, working closely with Europol, have dismantled an organised crime group's illegal counterfeit euro print shop and arrested five.
On 7 February 2013 in Oporto, Portugal, police arrested five Portuguese citizens, aged between 17 and 31 years old, who are suspected of producing and distributing fake euro banknotes in various denominations. The suspects were previously involved in a counterfeiting network which was dismantled by Portuguese Police in 2008.

At the request of the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, the European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) hosted at Europol, chaired an expert advisory group last week to evaluate the use of digital evidence and cybercrime fighting techniques in the course of the ICC’s work. The advisory group included experts from the Australian Federal Police, the Dutch National High Tech Crime Centre and the Colombian National Police.

Spanish Police, working closely with the European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) at Europol, have dismantled the largest and most complex cybercrime network dedicated to spreading police ransomware. It is estimated that the criminals affected tens of thousands of computers worldwide, bringing in profits in excess of one million euros per year.

An international organised crime network, responsible for large-scale synthetic drug trafficking to Scandinavia, has been broken up following an extensive operation by European police and customs authorities. The operation has resulted in the arrest of the key members of the criminal network, the seizure of over 150 kg of amphetamine and approximately 400 000 tablets of Rivotril, an anti-depressant medication.

An organised criminal network, involved in illegally transporting Middle Eastern nationals via Turkey, Greece, France and Belgium into the UK, was dismantled in a joint action day that began in the early hours of this morning. Judicial and law enforcement authorities conducted a successful joint operation in Belgium, France and the UK, supported and coordinated by Eurojust and Europol, which deployed a mobile office to France for on-the-spot intelligence analysis. This coordinated multi-agency approach brought added value to the operation.
