CHAPTER 11 Using WWW.FAASAFETY.GOV
Section 3 Joining
the FAASTeam
15-11-3-1 GENERAL.
A. Purpose. This task describes the procedures for joining
the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Safety Team (FAASTeam) on www.FAASafety.gov.
B. Scope. This task is applicable to all users to allow them
to “join” the FAASTeam, whether as a Regional FAASTeam Manager (RFM), FAASTeam
Program Manager (FPM), FAASTeam representative, or an interested member
of the aviation community.
15-11-3-3 TASK PREREQUISITES AND SIGNIFICANT INTERFACES.
A. Significant Interfaces.
· National Web Outreach Manager (WOM).
· Management and Program Analyst (Web).
· Regional Persons of Responsibility (PORs).
· RFM.
· Other FPM and staff within the region.
· Prospective and current FAASTeam volunteers.
· Registered and unregistered users of www.FAASafety.gov.
· The FAASTeam Web site (www.FAASafety.gov) webmaster and user
help providers listed at the bottom of each page on www.FAASafety.gov.
C. Program Tracking and Reporting Subsystem (PTRS) Activity Code
or Air Transportation Oversight System (ATOS) Database (as applicable).
No PTRS or ATOS entries are required by this task. FAASTeam program tracking
and reporting is done using FAASTeam Tracking System (FAASTracks) codes
in the FAASTracks Application Tool (FAASTApp). Codes for each task can be
found in project-specific Analysis and Justification Reports (A&J), which
are hyperlinked in Volume 15, Chapter 4. FAASTApp information is found in
Volume 15, Chapter 5.

15-11-3-11 PROCEDURES.
A. First Time Users. Once a user has created an account,
they will need to log in to
www.FAASafety.gov.
After logging in, the user must click on “About the FAASTeam” under
the resources tab. The user can then navigate to the “Join the FAASTeam”
tab to select their level of participation:
1) FAASTeam Member. A user is automatically a member after successfully
registering for an account and completing their online profile.
2) Individual Application. A volunteer must apply using the online individual
application (linked on the “Join the FAASTeam” page). Refer to Volume 15,
Chapter 6 for more information on representatives and volunteer management.
3) Industry Member Application. An organization must apply using the
online Industry Application (linked on the “Join the FAASTeam” page). Refer
to Chapter 6 for more information on industry members and volunteer management.
B. Uses of Individual Application. The individual application
is used for a user to apply on
www.FAASafety.gov
for the following positions: FAASTeam lead representative, FAASTeam
representative, and FAASTeam service provider. Note that a RFM or FPM must
also complete an application in order to be “approved” within
www.FAASafety.gov.
After completing the application and choosing the desired position and
district, the user will save the application.
C. Application Approval. The application for any position
must be approved by the applicable FPM, and then by the RFM or designated
person for the region in which the applicant applied. The approval must
be completed before the applicant can be given any special permission on
www.FAASafety.gov.
NOTE: The RFM positions must be approved by a National FAASTeam Manager
(NFM) or Administrator.
D. Special Permissions. Upon approval, the applicant can
be given special permissions as deemed appropriate by regional FAASTeam
designated persons.
E. Completed Applications. After the application process
has been completed on
www.FAASafety.gov,
the applicable FPM will contact the applicant and discuss training, expectations,
duties, etc. Refer to Chapter 6 for more information on volunteer management
and training.
15-11-3-13 TASK OUTCOMES. Completion of this task will result in a new user
successfully joining the FAASTeam through www.FAASafety.gov.
