The B.S. in IDS Teacher Preparation Program provides prospective early childhood, elementary, and special education teachers with a unique, multi-disciplinary, essentially liberal arts and sciences degree, which leads in the fifth year to graduate study in the Darden College of Education; this fifth year program culminates for teacher candidates in a Master of Science degree in Education and with licensure to teach in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Total Credits Required
(1) Must take 36 semester hours, including the practicum and student teaching; (2) two pre-requisite education courses -- Developmental Reading and Educational Application of Technology; (3) GPA of 3.00; (4) grade of B- or better in all course work; (5) the college writing proficiency examination - IF Praxis l has NOT been a requirement; (6) written comprehensive examination.
