Policy Statement / 5100 - N35 - 21 Dec 2010

The command will establish and maintain an aggressive Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Program. Managers and supervisors will ensure they understand their safety responsibilities and will proactively make safety a part of the workplace culture.

Injuries and occupational illnesses are preventable, but they can't be prevented unless everyone makes an effort to protect themselves, their fellow workers, our customers, and government property. Individual commitment will eliminate mishaps and improve our quality of service.

All U.S. Naval Support Activity Naples, Italy and Tenant Command personnel will strive to establish and maintain their workplaces, free from hazardous conditions. We must all make a deliberate effort to institute Risk Management as part of the daily routine in the interest of mishap prevention.

All personnel shall promptly report all occupational injuries and illnesses to their immediate supervisor. Military mishaps, on and off duty, must be immediately reported via the appropriate chain of command. Be an active participant in the Safety Program.

As your Commanding Officer, I urge each and every one of you to make Safety your highest priority. You are not to be subjected to interference, coercion, discrimination or reprisal for exercising your rights and responsibilities under the safety and health program.

This policy shall be posted on all official bulletin boards.

C.S. GRAY
