PEACHTREE CITY, GA — May 21, 2007 — Dr. Elaine Beraza, Director, Department of Defense (DoD) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools, Cuba, (DoDDS-Cuba) announced today that Mr. Ted Turnipseed has been named principal of Lucas Elementary School, Fort Campbell, KY.

"We're delighted to have someone with Mr. Turnipseed’s background and track record of success and enthusiasm, accept this position,” said Mrs. Martha Brown, Fort Campbell Community superintendent. “He’s a fine educator with a laser sharp focus on providing the best of all possible educational environments for children.”

Turnipseed comes to DDESS from DoDDS-Pacific at Amelia Earhart Intermediate School, Okinawa, Japan, where he is currently principal. Prior to that, he served as assistant principal of Naples Elementary School in Naples, Italy. He taught both in regular classrooms and in learning-impaired classrooms in Panama and Germany. Prior to coming to DoDEA, he taught in Tennessee, California and Mississippi.
He earned his bachelor’s of science degree in Special Education from what is now The University of Memphis, in Memphis, Tenn., and his master’s degree in Education Administration from National University, in Vista, CA.
