Weekend Inspiration

2013 January 18

Congratulations to ‘*Mahmud*’ on Flickr for today’s State of the Environment featured photo. A second, peaceful scene this week taken in Seoul, Korea.

With this photo, we pose a question and a new challenge to you: is this our environment?

This weekend, we challenge you to take a photo of humans in the environment as you understand it. Perhaps they are aware or not, that they too are a part of the bigger picture of our environment and way of life today.

Share your thoughts as a comment below, or on EPA’s Facebook page.

Your images from around the world will create a picture in time, as Documerica did years ago. You too, can be a part of history.

Entries may be submitted to State of the Environment on Flickr through 2013.

Our environment today is not the same–there has been a dramatic change. It has evolved into a toxic environment affecting the health of all life on earth including our oceans. Besides the natural cooling and heating of the planet, the toxins from our industrialization, products we use and numbers of humans, the atmosphere has changed so much that we are seeing abnormal weather patterns and natural disasters in every country on earth. We could compare filling the earth to filling an empty bag–if filled too much, it breaks. Nothing can stop the breakage unless we either stop filling the bag beyond capacity or remove items to lighten the stress on the bag.
