VCTS suite trains troops; Click here to read the full aritcle TRADOC Capability Manager for the Virtual Training Environment (TCM Virtual) is the Army’s centralized planner, manager and integrator for all capability developments associated with virtual simulators, simulations and other components of the virtual training environment. To enable a common virtual environment, TCM Virtual manages the Close Combat Tactical Trainer, Reconfigurable Vehicle Simulator, Reconfigurable Vehicle Tactical Trainer, Dismounted Soldier, Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer, Non-rated Crewmember Manned Module, Common Driver Trainer, Engagement Skills Trainer, Call for Fire Trainer Increment II, Basic Electronic Maintenance Simulator, and Synthetic Environment Core. COL Johnson attends Sullivan Cup competitionIn May, tank crews competed for the first Sullivan Cup at Fort Benning, Ga. Teams of four tested their maintenance abilities, gunnery skills and other abilities in the live and virtual training environments. One of the competition attendees was COL Miciotto “Bear” Johnson, Director- TRADOC Capability Manager – Virtual Training. TCM Virtual is the Army’s centralized planner, manager and integrator for all capability developments associated with virtual simulators, simulations and other components of the virtual training environment. A tank crew from Fort Bliss, Texas, won the Sullivan Cup, which is named for GEN (R) Gordon Sullivan.
TCM deputy receives awardFORT LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – Dan Wakeman of the TRADOC Capability Manager for the Virtual Training Environment (TCM Virtual) received an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) award. Wakeman, deputy director of TCM Virtual, received the award for his dedication to Reserve and Active Component Soldiers in a ceremony at the National Simulation Center. Soldiers demonstrate virtual training systemMG Robert Brown (left) discusses the Dismounted Soldier Training System (DSTS) with Army Chief of Staff GEN Raymond Odierno (center) while Soldiers conduct a training demonstration at Fort Bennning, GA. The DSTS trains Soldiers on individual and collective tasks. DSTS also supports training mission rehearsals for a wide array of scenarios based on the actual terrain where Soldiers may fight. TCM Virtual at Fort Leavenworth, KS, manages the DSTS program, which will be begin fielding throughout the Army this year. MG Brown is the commanding general of the Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Benning.
Revolutionary training simulations start soonSoon the Army will begin a revolutionary way of using virtual simulation to train Soldiers for ground operations.
