Elizabeth Crot, Miss VA 2011, took time to tape a PSA on cellphone use, specifically about texting. The stats show that, depending on vehicle type, your risk of a crash could be as much as 23 times higher than if you didn't text.  Texting - (4.68MB)

CSADD_LogolFleet Master Chief Scott Benning from Navy Total Force/Manpower, Personnel, Education, and Training and DC2 Mirtha Maza of the Naval Safety Center provide an introduction to a program called, "Coalition of Sailors Against Destructive Decisions - CSADD." This grassroots effort is "by young Sailors and for young Sailors." The "Stop and Think" theme was developed primarily to get young military members to think before making a bad decision that may affect them on or off duty. Whether a safety decision or an off-duty alcohol-related one, this program hopes to reduce mishaps, increase communications/discussions among young Sailors, and to increase awareness about good decision making. Mike Gooding of WVEC Channel 13 in Norfolk often reports on military issues, after all, he is the military reporter for WVEC. Mike took time to help get out a safety message to Sailors and Marines. All too often, he has had to report on mishaps at sea or at home, and he cheerfully agreed to tape a message that urges Sailors and Marines to take it easy during off-duty activities. Lori Crouch and Chris Reckling of WAVY Channel 10 News in the Norfolk area, took time to tape a couple of safety messages for the Navy and Marine Corps. Both have reported on mishaps involving Sailors and Marines, and they volunteered to help with a few words to inspire others to stay safe when off-duty, whether driving a car, riding a motorcycle, or enjoying recreational activities.
