Counterdrug

The Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force Training (MCTFT) program provided free training facilities to members of the U.S. Marshals Service at the MCTFT facility at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center in Starke, Fla., Feb. 25. Florida SWAT Association instructors trained Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force members from the medic profession. The training is intended to prepare team members with the ability to give emergency combat first aid while in a tactical situation.

With the help of the National Guard, the Department of Defense conducts a full spectrum campaign that bridges the gap between military and civilian institutions in the fight against illicit drugs.  Counterdrug programs in each state and territory have been established to provide a variety of military support for local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and community based organizations.

Because Florida is a key gateway for drugs entering the Southeastern United States, the Florida National Guard has built and maintained one of the foremost Counterdrug Programs in the Nation. By providing intelligence analysis support, air and ground reconnaissance, and law enforcement training, we have helped seize billions of dollars in narcotics and drug related assets over the last few years alone.

The Florida Counterdrug Program operates five distinct missions with their own skill sets aimed at fighting drugs in the State of Florida.  These missions are Drug Demand Reduction (DDR), Reconnaissance, North Florida Intelligence, South Florida Intelligence, and Training.
