Drummond Island Reporting Station To Close For The Boating Season

Sault Ste Marie, Mich. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection Field Operations today announced the anticipated closure of the Drummond Island reporting station for the 2012 summer boating season.

With the end of summer, boating traffic has come to a standstill, and the Drummond Island reporting station is expected to conclude daily scheduled service on September 30. After September 30 all staffing will cease and vessels will no longer be able to report there. Vessels can still report in at George Kemp Marina in the city of Sault Ste Marie, Michigan.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
