The National Geodetic Survey (NGS), in cooperation with individual
state professional surveying associations and other organizations,
would like to encourage the setting of a commemorative geodetic
control monument at or near the computed location of each state's
population center as determined by the U.S. Census Bureau. Each
state's center is shown on the map below, and the contact information
for each state may be obtained by clicking on that point.
