BECOMING A GOLDEN KNIGHT

My name is Sergeant First Class Laura Dickmeyer and I’m a 35 Lima counter intelligence agent in the United States Army. I initially joined the United States Army in 2005. I joined because I wanted real world experience and also I eventually wanted to become a Golden Knight which I achieved in 2008 when I went through Golden Knight Assessment and Selection. After Golden Knight Assessment and Selection I went to the Gold Demonstration Team and I actually had the opportunity to do amazing jumps into so many different locations and meet the most amazing people. One jump was I jumped into the Statue of Liberty. We haven’t been there since the mid-1970s so that was a pretty monumental jump for, for the team and for myself. Since then I’ve joined the United States Army Parachute Team, women’s female four-way team, and we are actually competing for the 2012 world meet in Dubai in December.
