Satellite Image Archive
The CONTRACE 2003 experiment ended on June 25, 2003 and the satellite products are no longer being updated. However, all of the images from the June 25 - July 25 study period have been archived and can be accessed below.
Images are archived by Julian date, where: 2003176 is June 25, 2003 2003182 is July 01, 2003 2003191 is July 10, 2003 2003201 is July 20, 2003 2003206 is July 25, 2003.
- Trans-Atlantic infrared images These images are available every 3-hours. Yellows and reds indicate higher cloud tops. Greens and blues indicate lower level clouds and the surface of the Earth.
- Trans-Atlantic water vapor images These images are available every 3-hours. Blues and purples indicate drier air, yellows and reds indicate moister air.
- Trans-Atlantic infrared images with mean sea level pressure These images are available every 6-hours. Yellows and reds indicate higher cloud tops. Greens and blues indicate lower level clouds and the surface of the Earth.
- Trans-Atlantic water vapor images with 300 hPa IPV These images are available every 6-hours. Yellows and reds indicate higher cloud tops. Greens and blues indicate lower level clouds and the surface of the Earth.
- European visible images These images are available every half hour between 0600 and 1830 UTC.
- Trans-Atlantic infrared images with FLEXPART column CO These images are available every 6-hours.
FLEXPART CO-tracer/satellite movies
View Quicktime movies of infrared satellite images, stretching from California to Germany, with contours of FLEXPART column CO. The movies cover the period June 26 through July 25, 2003. Images are available every 3 hours and the timestamp is located in the lower right hand corner of each image. The CO tracer has a lifetime of 20 days.
