The US Army Corps of Engineers does provide shoreline protection to areas when funds are available to do so. The focus is primarily on shoreline zoned as "Protected" or "Public Recreation" as these would be areas that the general public would use the most.
Shoreline Protection is allowed in areas zoned "Limited Development". This permit is a no-cost permit, however plans must be submitted and approved before work can begin.
