Secretary Clinton's Video Message to ASEAN Youth

As part of the U.S. State Department’s public outreach efforts, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton recorded a video message answering questions posed by young people in Southeast Asia, available at http://www.america.gov/multimedia/video.html?videoId=180329510001 and on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oELje4CKVQ&feature=channel .

In the video, Secretary Clinton remarks on U.S.-ASEAN relations, “We also know that we share many of the same goals. We want Southeast Asia to remain economically strong and independent. We believe the people of Southeast Asia are entitled to peace, regional stability and human rights. We will work with you to improve education and economic opportunities so that young people have the chance to achieve their potential and compete successfully in the global marketplace.” In addition to Secretary Clinton’s message, the video features answers from U.S. administration officials to questions asked by ASEAN youth.

Secretary Clinton is leading the U.S. delegation to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Post-Ministerial Conference and the 17th ASEAN Regional Forum Ministerial in Hanoi July 22-23.
