State and Local Law Enforcement Training Symposium (SLLETS)

This 4½ day training symposium offers multiple training tracks. Each attendee will be required to sign up for only one (1) track of training. Each training track is limited to a maximum of 24 students. All training programs will be conducted at the FLETC’s Charleston, SC facility and will be taught by highly qualified staff instructors.  To learn more about our Charleston facility, click HERE.

Curriculum

  • *TRACK 1:  Maritime Policing --  This track is designed for federal, state and local law enforcement officers that operate in the maritime domain. Training topics include: Introduction to Seaport Operations, Dangerous Cargo Overview, Operational Hazards & Safety Awareness,  Commercial Vessel Familiarization, Pre-Boarding Procedures, Boarding Procedures (Law Enforcement), Officer Survival Afloat, and Commercial Vessel Tactical Entry Techniques.*TRACK 2:  Arrest Techniques/Defensive Tactics -- Training topics include: threat assessment, restraining suspects, searching suspects, close quarters, takedowns, ground defense, edge weapons and intermediate weapons.

  • *TRACK 3  Active Shooter Threat Training Program - Active threat analysis, tactical concepts, response tactics, single/multiple officer response and movements.

  • TRACK 4:  Advanced Interviewing - Cognitive interview, handling denials, interviewing for law enforcement officers; McGuire Interview Lab, advance evidence, theme presentation, case studies and suspect interview lab.

  • *TRACK 5:  Survival Shooting – Firearms, firearms safety, survival shooting techniques/drills and shoulder mounted weapons.

     *Participants who select these programs will be required to have a medical screening prior to the start of class. The screening will be performed by medical staff located at the FLETC  at no cost to you. For the firearms course, your acceptance/confirmation letter will provide additional information (e.g., duty weapons check-in process).

Tuition and Cost

There will be NO COST for tuition, meals and lodging for qualified participants who work more than 50 miles from the training site in Charleston, SC.  Attendees are responsible for all travel costs

Required arrival date is Sunday, June 16, 2013 and flights for departure on the final day (June 21, 2013) must be scheduled no earlier than 3:30 p.m. if you are utilizing FLETC-provided airport transportation.
