Incident Management Assistance Team Pilot Program

Incident Management Assistance Teams (IMATs) are a critical component of the FEMA disaster workforce, capable of being on scene within hours of a disaster in support of our local, Tribal, Territorial, and State partners. The Pilot Program will create three new IMATs – two Type I National Teams in Sacramento, California and Washington, D.C. and one new Type II Regional Team in Oakland, California.

FEMA will provide team members extensive training, education, and professional development to build technical proficiency, increase team cohesion, and hone crisis leadership and management skills. Enhanced professional development opportunities through hands-on, practical involvement with the emergency management community, including State, Territorial, and Tribal emergency management agencies and various subject matter experts will be available.

FEMA seeks hard working, creative, and results-oriented candidates who embody the core values of compassion, fairness, integrity, and respect; and implement FEMA’s core principles of teamwork, engagement, getting results, preparation, empowerment, flexibility, accountability, and stewardship.
