Board of Scientific Counselors, NCEH/ATSDR
BSC Overview
NCEH/ATSDR established the Board of Scientific Counselors (BSC) in April 2004. According to its Federal Advisory Committee Act charter, the purpose of the BSC is to serve as an advisory committee and support CDC’s mission to protect public health.
The BSC provides advice and guidance to:
- Secretary, Department of Health and Human Services
- Director, CDC
- Director, NCEH/ATSDR
The BSC’s advice and guidance assist NCEH/ATSDR in ensuring
- scientific quality,
- timeliness,
- utility, and
- dissemination of results.
Future Activities
The BSC generally meets twice a year. The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for May 17 - 18, 2012. One week prior to this meeting, ATSDR will post a draft agenda to the BSC site.
