Field Trips

Yellow Pitcher Plant (Grand Bay NERR, MS)
Looking for ways to connect with our local estuaries?

Learn about kayak adventures, history walks, bird watching, hiking and many other activities you can do while visiting a reserve site.

Public tours featuring the natural and cultural history of some of the research reserves are available sometimes during weekdays and most of the times on weekend. Special programs and activities are scheduled throughout the year. Almost all research reserves require that reservations be made. Some examples of this kind of field-trip include trail and beach walks, guided kayak and canoe trips, boat rides through a reserve, bird watching tours and much more.

Group tours & School Programs are also available throughout the year. Formal education field trips into Reserves support the specific teacher and student audience. They can be designed for teachers only as a form of professional development or for groups of students. They often come with teaching and field guides and some require educators to complete training courses or review training documents prior to attending. They also often link closely to national, state and local teaching standards and curricula.

Please consult your local research reserve site webpage for details or contact an education coordinator.
