Mission
The mission of the Office of Physical Protection is to implement and oversee dedicated human resources, processes, and equipment designed to protect personnel and assets entrusted to our care at Department of Energy (DOE) Headquarters facilities. The Office is comprised of dedicated DOE Federal security professionals, Headquarters Protective Force personnel, and Alarms and Access Control Technicians. These security subject matter experts work together to ensure compliance with DOE Safeguards and Security regulations, Interagency Security Committee guidance, and federal laws. The result of this collaboration is a security program designed to ensure a safe and secure working environment for all Headquarters employees.
Functions
Specific functions of the Office of Physical Protection include access control, security screening, credentialing, visitor access, emergency response, contraband detection, classified and sensitive information dispostion, security awareness education, investigation of incidents of security concern and liaison with local law enforcement agencies.
