The United States unequivocally supports foreign direct investment, and provides foreign investors fair, equitable, and nondiscriminatory treatment as a matter of policy, law, and practice.

Investing in the United States has many advantages. The American workforce ranks as one of the best educated, most productive, and most innovative in the world. As a place to do business, the United States offers a predictable and transparent legal system, outstanding infrastructure, and access to the world’s most lucrative consumer market.

SelectUSA is the primary U.S. Government mechanism to coordinate foreign direct investment promotion. Efforts are focused on outreach to foreign governments and investors, support for state governments’ investment promotion efforts, and addressing business climate concerns of international investors. Some of the specific services include:

  • Facilitating investor inquiries
  • Acting as ombudsman for international investors
  • Connecting investors with U.S. State investment offices
  • Providing investor education on establishing in the United States
