EDITORS AND CORRESPONDENTS

The Federal Highway Administration has extended to June 30 the deadline for filing comments on an advance notice of proposed rulemaking looking to possible revisions of the commercial driver hours-of-service regulations.

Originally set for March 31, the deadline was extended to allow parties more time to review and critique the recently released Driver Fatigue and Alertness Study and to review the transcripts of a number of "listening sessions" the Office of Motor Carriers held around the country in March to hear primarily from drivers.

Comments should be addressed to FHWA Docket MC-96-28, and sent to the Docket Clerk, Room PL-401, 400 Seventh Street, SW, Washington, DC 20590-0001.

Sincerely yours,

George L. Reagle
Associate Administrator for Motor Carriers
