Check the Status of your Immigrant Visa Now

Most regular immigrant visa applications in Kabul require an average of 90-120 days after the interview for required administrative processing.  Administrative processing on Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) cases typically requires several months, however.  You should check the status of your visa case periodically utilizing the case number shown on the yellow card that the Consular Officer gave you on the date of your interview.  Check the Status of your Immigrant Visa Now (PDF 521 KB). The following chart is a guide which tells you the next step to take depending on the status shown:

If we require additional information, and we have not been able to reach you or you have not responded, the case will show Need More Information status.

Important Notes: Your medical examination must still be valid at the time of visa issuance.  Otherwise, you will be required to undergo a new medical examination at one of the approved Panel Physician medical facilities before your immigrant visa can be issued.

Please check the status of your case periodically. Do not contact the Embassy while your application is under administrative processing as we will NOT be able to provide you with any further information until the administrative processing is complete.
