Black Statement on Obama’s Rejection of the Keystone XL Pipeline

Jan 18, 2012 Issues: Economy and Jobs, Energy

Washington, D.C.—Today, U.S. Representative Diane Black (R-TN), released the following statement after the Obama Administration announced they would deny the application for construction of the Keystone XL pipeline:

“I wish I could say I’m surprised.  Yet again, the president has put politics before economic growth, bending to pressure from special interest groups.  The Keystone XL pipeline would have created 20,000 jobs and been a crucial step toward breaking our dependence on foreign oil.  The unemployment rate in this country has been too high for too long.  Unfortunately, the president is more interested in saving his own job than creating new American jobs.”
