Senator Boxer: Helping Communities Recover from Disasters

Thursday, September 15, 2011

Dear Friend:

This week I spoke on the Senate floor about the importance of immediately approving additional funding to help communities nationwide that have been hit by recent disasters.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s funding is running so low that the agency has had to put more than $380 million in disaster recovery projects on hold, including several in California.

In my remarks, I urged lawmakers to put politics aside and act now to replenish FEMA funds that have been depleted by recent disasters including floods, tornadoes, fires, and earthquakes.

Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer, US Senator, California
