High school choices

     I. Neighborhood Schools      
Students living on Ft. Benning entering grades 9-12 in the fall automatically qualify for entry into either Spencer High School 4340 Victory Drive, Columbus, GA, Chattahoochee County High School 350 Hwy 25, Cussetta, GA or Russell Co HS, 506 14th street, Phenix City, AL.  All 3 are considered our assigned “neighborhood high schools” and provide advanced, on grade level and remedial classes to accommodate all academic levels.

     II. Magnet Academies-Columbus, GA
Columbus, GA high schools which focus on a specific interest area are called “Magnet Academies” and have eligibility requirements before a student is accepted in to their programs.  Students who qualify for these programs MAY be required to: meet certain overall GPA requirements (usually B or better average in each 8th grade class), submit report cars signed by their school counselor, take an entrance exam, obtain teacher recommendations, compose an essay as to why they wish to attend their magnet program and have an individual interview process.  Students interested in attending a magnet academy are strongly encouraged to maintain honor roll type report cards every quarter of their 8th grade year.  Students should also attend the high school’s open house program.  *H.S.
