Many of my students have no insurance, and Planned Parenthood is their sole resource for health screening and information. Please continue to support their important work.

(NEW)  There’s is a reason it called Planned Parenthood. It is the best health care I have had for years. I am afraid to go there now although I do need healthcare & don't have insurance. This whole Susan Komen incident has struck a nerve. There is a sector that would like women to be barefoot & pregnant, forgot healthcare or breast cancer. It would be nice to have health care & not have to fight for it or be intimidated when I go to get a check-up.

As I read the message of apology, it DID NOT specify that they were re- instating the grants to Planned Parenthood, only that they would "consider" them in the future. This was only an apology to stop the withdrawal of millions of donations to it's charity. I personally will NOT be donating to SGK for myriad reasons,including the outrageous funding of executive board pay, instead of Breast Cancer Research. I will only contribute to Planned Parenthood directly.

Please continue to keep the pressure on SGK - really nothing has changed. They restored funding for this year but there is no guarantee that they will fund Planned Parenthood going forward.  I appreciate the desire to celebrate this small victory, but there really is so much more about this that continues to need attention. Thanks for what you are doing to protect women's health and civil rights.

Your comments misrepresented the issue. This is not a victory for breast cancer. Susan G. Komen had every right to choose which facilities to fund in their support of breast cancer patients. Planned Parenthood is one of many options for poor women to receive cancer screening. Cancer screen is such a minor part of planned parenthood's over all purpose as to be laughable. You believe in abortion, that is your right. At least have integrity and admit that this is about promoting abortion and punishing anyone who dares to disagree.

I had no doubt you'd be on the right side of this issue, but it's always good to hear your own public statements. The really disturbing element in this whole moot-for-now issue is the right wing takeover of the Komen foundation. The fact it's women doing this to other women - or trying to - is an extra twist of the knife that I frankly don't understand.

Either you are for a "cure" or you are not. Either you support women's health or you don't. Given the rapid response on the part of PP (they knew this was coming) and the rapid response on the part of the men and women who support women's health, Komen was forced to back off. However, there is certainly no guarantee that any future grant requests will be looked upon favorably.

I am thoroughly disappointed that the Susan B. Komen foundation did not listen to my voice when I praised them for withholding funds from Planned Parenthood. I have not supported the foundation for years since finding out that they were in cahoots with PP since it is a mockery of their mission to end breast cancer yet they will support a company that offers, even pushes, a service of abortion that is PROVEN to increase risk of breast cancer. It makes me sick. Once again, I will refuse to support the Komen Foundation and will tell others why.

I am very saddened by this reversal. PP is the one being investigated and I don't agree about it being only political. PP has been under scrutiny for a long time and will go to all lengths to retain their money coming in.
