Mission:
To conduct counter-insurgency operations in partnership with Afghan National Security Forces and support the expansion of security and legitimate governance.

Gunnery Sgt. Steven J. Taylor, platoon sergeant, Guard Platoon, Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, leads a squad of Afghan soldiers through a number of combat marksmanship drills to improve their combat effectiveness.
MEB-A’s Goals:
• Establish security and safety for Afghan citizens
• Develop and mentor Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police
• Support reconstruction and economic development
• Build trust in local and national government entities
• Transition responsibility for security, reconstruction and governance to the Afghan people
