Cohen: Shelby County to Receive $12.8 Million for Head Start Projects

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced Shelby County government will receive $12,847,553 for Head Start projects.

“Head Start was established to help children under age five who come from poor families,” said Congressman Cohen.  “Head Start programs help prepare our children for kindergarten and provide them with the health care and food support they need to live happy, healthy, productive lives.  This is an important program that I am proud to support.”

Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families.
