Misawa tips off intramural basketball season

Misawa tips off intramural basketball season

Cookie Caper brings goodies

Each year, volunteers ask the Misawa community to bake sweets for distribution to single and unaccompanied service members on the base. This year, Misawa Air Base’s annual Cookie Caper pulled in 31,800 cookies, which would be delivered to the service members by their first sergeants. Cookie Caper brings goodies

Jasmine Chandler, Cookie Caper volunteer, packages cookies during the base’s annual Cookie Caper at Misawa Air Base, Japan, Dec. 11, 2012. Base community members and volunteers baked, donated and packaged a variety of cookies, which were delivered to single, unaccompanied servicemembers unable to spend the holiday season with their families. Each cookie tray included a holiday card from well-wishers. The event, sponsored by the Misawa Officers’ and Enlisted Spouses’ Clubs, gathered a total of 31,800 cookies. Cookie Caper brings goodies

Matthew Whittaker, Defense Commissary Agency commissary officer, puts cookies in the oven during the base’s annual Cookie Caper at Misawa Air Base, Japan, Dec. 10, 2012. The commissary made an agreement with cookie caper volunteers that if they came with their cookie dough prepared, the commissary would provide the workspace, tables, baking sheets and oven.
