About TMIP
TMIP was established in 1994 with the mission of transferring improved travel analysis technologies and practices to staff at state and local planning agencies. Over this period the transportation industry has undergone significant changes and TMIP has continued to lead the charge in supporting research and providing opportunities for information sharing. Since its inception, TMIP has:
- Supported research promoting development of the TRANSIMS, TELUS, UrbanSim and MOVES software
- Supported more than thirty peer reviews at State DOTs and MPOs around the country
- Provided technical training and hosted National Highway Institute (NHI) training courses
- Created and maintained a Web Knowledge and Information Exchange (WKIE)
- Created and maintained an Email List with more than 1,600 subscribers
- Sponsored research leading to hundreds of published reports
- Partnered with important industry organizations including: Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (AMPO), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO),Transportation Research Board (TRB), National Association of Regional Councils (NARC)
